Stuffed Green Peppers


6 medium peppers
1 pound beef
1/3 c. onion
1/2 c. water
1 16 oz. can tomatoes, diced
1/2 c. uncooked white rice
1 teas. Worcestershire sauce
4 cups sharp cheese, shredded

Cut tops from green peppers and discard seeds. Cook
the whole green peppers, uncovered in boiling water
for about 5 minutes; drain well. Sprinkle insides
of peppers lightly with salt. In a skillet cook ground
beef, onion till meat is browned. Add undrained
tomatoes, uncooked rice, water, salt, Worcestershire,
and a dash of pepper. Bring to boiling, reduce heat.
Cover and simmer about 15 minutes or till rice is
tender. Stir in cheese. Stuff peppers with meat
mixture. Place in a baking dish and bake at 350
for 20 to 25 minutes.
