Dinner in a Pumpkin

1 medium pumpkin
1 1/2 -2 lbs. ground beef
1 can of cream of chicken
1 onion chopped
2 Tablespoons soy sauce
1 can sliced mushrooms
1 1/2 cups cooked rice
1 cup sour cream
1 to 2 cups of grated sharp cheese

Cut a hole in the top of the pumpkin and clean it out.
Brown ground beef in a large frying pan and add onions

to sauté. When ground beef is no longer pink add the
rest of the ingredients and stir until completely mixed.
When mixed together pour into pumpkin.
Put the top back on the pumpkin and place on a cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 for 1 hour.

So, do you eat the pumpkin as part of the meal, or is it just the cooking vessel? Does the dish absorb a pumpkin flavor? My mom loves cooked pumpkin, but it's a little too stringy for me (moreso than squash).

You just use the pumpkin to warm everything together. Dax thinks it is fun to cook something in a pumpkin. I usually don't taste pumpkin in the dish.
